What Does Obtundation Mean?

I am a deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County (Prosecutor-put bad guys away). Had a hit and run driver who left a severely injured 42-year-old female victim on the roadway. She suffered TBI along with numerous other problems. I am trying to find a diagram for the brain so when I discuss her multiple injuries I have something the jury can visualize. Also have not found an adequate definition for cubital or obtund .

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Obtundation refers to less than full alertness (altered level of consciousness). It typically can occur as a result of a medical condition or trauma. It can be considered to be mildly depressed level of consciousness or alertness, which may be classed as lethargy. Characteristic feature of people who are obtunded have a more depressed level of consciousness and cannot be fully aroused.

Hope I have answered your query.
