What Does On And Off Dizziness While On Medication For BP And Cholesterol Suggest?

I get dizzy often when I do yard work or exercise. I am otherwise in good health. The dizziness goes away quickly but also returns quickly. I take a high blood pressure and cholesterol med. I am 63, weigh 185 and 6ft tall. My BP is 109/66. Everyone says that is good but I think it is a little low for my metabolism and life style. I would like to try cutting me Lisinopril from 20 mg to 10 mg to see if my dizziness goes away and my BP is still acceptable.i was borderline BP before.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
You are right in complaining the dizziness as it is one of the recognised side effects of Lisinopril.
As far as reducing the dosage from 20 to 10mg is concerned, I think youe BP is in pretty safe range to try reducing the dose.
In my view, you can reduce it to 10mg with lots of caution that is frequent monitoring of BP, say 5-6 time per day for the first week.
If there is a fluctuation, which is not acceptable, then you will have to come back to original dosage.
Regarding metabolism, I don't think tha 109/66 is a low BP by any means that suggests that it can influence your metabolism.
Last but not least, as you must be aware, that for treating hypertensive disease, lifestyle modification is very important. So, you should practice that along with the medications.
Hope this resolves your query.
