What Does Pain Above The Right Breast Indicate?

Yesterday I started experiencing some pain in my upper right breast about halfway between the collarbone and nipple. It has persisted through the day today becoming slightly more painful as the day wears on. Feels somewhat like a muscle strain but not sure. I am a male, age 59.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many possibilities for pain in the chest, you need to do the following tests especially if you develop other symptoms such as palpitation, severe pain, cough, or difficulty in breathing.
1- clinical assessment.
2- Chest X-ray.
3- Electrocardiogram.
4- Other routine tests.
Muscle strain can be diagnosed after exclusion of other serious symptoms and can be treated conservatively by using over the counter analgesics and topical medications.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
