What Does Pain Around The Navel Indicate?

Our 8 year old daughter has stomach pain in the vicinity of her belly button. She initially complained last evening, we gave her some Tums & some 7 up, she felt better, slept through the night, had a good appetite all day & typical energy level. Approximately 1 hour ago she did not eat dinner & again complained of stomach pain, we again gave her Tums & some 7 up and had her soak in the tub. She is feeling a bit better, still complaining of stomach pain which she says is worse when she sits up.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think you should do a total blood count and maybe an ultrasound I as needed to. Appendicitis may be the cause and the pain later is located on right. If the pain continues mild and central maybe parasites. If vomiting precedes and pain continues maybe an intestinal obstruction is happening.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
