What Does Pain Behind The Left Shoulder Indicate?

I hurt my left shoulder back in Oct. and is not getting any better as of today! I ve tried icing it, heat, icyhot, take 500mg of naproxen (for my knee) and nothing seems to help! It s hard to raise at times and sometimes feels weak! Possible torn rotator cuff?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

At the time of injury, did you seek medical advice? If not, then chances are there of minor fracture or dislocation depending upon the severity of injuries. My advice is to go through a full examination of shoulder from an orthopedic surgeon. Get x-ray shoulder done. Till then instead, naproxen tries diclofenac twelve hourly along with hot fomentation.

The second possibility is of frozen shoulder (inflammatory stiffness of shoulder capsule disabling or limiting the shoulder movements). In that case, physiotherapy is the best option rather than the medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
