Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a shooting hot pain down my leg from just above the back of my knee down to my ankle. Could this be an aneurism? It is 10 pm. It s ok now, but it scared me. It felt like a blood vessel was shooting down. Should I call a doc, or wait till the morning?
I had gone through your medical complaints and got a clear idea about your anxiety. Aneurysm occurs when an artery weakens. Aneurysms that occur near the surface of the body and commonly shows signs of swelling and pain. There may be increased heart rate and feeling of lightheaded.
Coming to your case as per your complaints you had not mentioned any swelling. If you have any swelling, it can be an aneurysm then immediately consult your doctor for treatment (Endovascular stent graft).
If there is no swelling the pain could be due to other causes. (deep vein thrombosis, nerve irritation like sciatica). To know exact cause you have to go for radiological examination and neurological tests (nerve conduction tests). Hope you will act according to the above information.
