What Does Pain Below The Ribcage On The Left Side Indicate?
Hello, I am a 36 year old female. I am experiencing pain in my left abdomen a little below my ribs. It consists of sharp pains, but also a constant ache when the sharp pains are not happening. I also have been experiencing dark vaginal bleeding between my menstrual cycles. The bleeding started light, then got heavier and has tapered down to a light, but thick dark stringy blood. I am not sure if these are related. The pains started on the 22nd and the bleeding started on the 25th. I am not sure if I should just wait to see if I get better or if I should be seen by a physician and would appreciate to know what I should do. Thank you for your response. Katie

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Welcome to HealthcareMagic you need to be seen by the physician as you need complete evaluation and lab testing . In such patient , i will recommend the the testing as Hb ..TLC ..DLC ..URINE ...SERUM lipase and serum amylase ....ECG and ultrasound abdomen . But i assume gynae complaint should be evaluated by a complete local examination by a gynaecologist even ultrasound abdomen will give clue about the the uterine or ovarian pathology . If you have any further query then you can come back to HealthcareMagic i will definitely help you and guide you . With regards dr varinder joshi
