What Does Pain Between The Shoulder Blades Indicate?
I have had three gallbladder attacks in the last year. One of the attacks I had clay colored stool. During each attack my AST and GAMMA GT were slightly elevated. I ve had three ultra sounds, a CT scan with dye, a HIDA scan and and a gastric endoscopy. All came back. Normal. Sporadically I will have pain where my Gallbladder is, as well as pain between my shoulder blades. I m at my witts end. I just want to know what is going on in my body
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your concern is very right. There is a condition called sphincter of adrenal dysfunction, where symptoms like that of gallstones occur without gallstone. There may be other reasons for the pain as well but it looks like it arises from your gallbladder. To understand exactly all about it we sometimes advise patient to do ERCP which is endoscopically viewing tubes attached to the gallbladder. It may also find very small stones sometime which can be missed on ultrasound. So I would suggest you must consult a gastroenterologist and discuss your problem with him.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
