I thought I might have sciatic nerve problem. Pain started in lower back and moves down right buttocks and leg. Been on and off over a week. Improved with heating pad.But now I have tingling in my foot.. Only my lower right leg hurts. And veins on right foot are enlarged. Tingling in leg too.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic with your concerns.

Your symptoms do suggest Sciatica. Some treatment options are:
1. Alternate application of heat and ice. Apply for about 20mins every 2hrs.
2. Over the counter pain medication-ibuprofen
3. If pain is still persisting a trial of oral steroids maybe helpful to decrease the inflammation
4. Physical Therapy may also be effective
5. If all else fails, you could do a trial of a steroid injection but it is not proven to be effective for everyone.

I hope I was able to answer your question. Please let me know if you have any further concern.
