What Does Pain In Chest When Undergoing Depression Suggest?
I was recently diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, I'm 36, it has been miss diagnosed as depression since I was 17. Everytime I get into one of my depressed states, I have a strange sensation or pain in my chest. Is this something to be concerned about?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Depression is a mood disorder and it can occur as unipolar or endogenous depression or in bipolar disorders as bipolar depression. In most cases of depression anxiety disorders are found to occur as co-morbid disorders. The symptoms like weird or strange sensation in chest or pain while you are depressed are most likely the symptoms of anxiety. In severe anxiety or panic disorders chest pains are very common. Commonly used medicines for anxiety like low dose benzodiazepines as Clonazepam or Etizolam etc can help to control these symptoms. These medicines should be used on SOS basis while you are taking the drug of bipolar disorder. Please consult your psychiatrist regarding prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
