What Does Pain In The Abdomen Indicate?

For a week or so I have felt pain in my abdomen and a drastic change in bowel movement -- the stuff is now piecemeal flakes and not much. In the last couple days I have felt severe abdominal upper lateral pain after eating. In addition I have recurring sweating at night leaving my tee shirt wet, I am a senior citizen (79) would this be pancreatic or lymphoma?

Hello,

As you were a senior citizen, degenerative changes in gastrointestinal tract are common which might lead to abdominal pain. Other causes can be excluded by some investigations.

In my opinion it is better to go for following investigations before confirming diagnosis:
1. USG of abdomen
2. Liver function tests
3. Pancreatic function test
4. Gastric function test

Coming to treatment, if no abnormalities are found, you can follow the below:
1. Use antacids
2. Reduce spicy foods

There is no need to worry, but investigations guide us in a better way. Take necessary steps as soon as possible to avoid further complications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
