What Does Pain In The Ankles And Shin Indicate?

good evening, Im having some pain in my ankle and lower leg along the shin. I m in the army and while at airborne school i landed funny and had some pain in my right ankle and it almost seemed like a rolled ankle but now the pain it pretty severe which makes its hard to walk because the pain shots up into my shins. it hurts with and type of walking or running and just by rotating my ankle in a circular motion. I was wondering how serious of an injury this could be and how urgent it needs to be looked at.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The intense pain in ankles indicate possible ligament sprain or strain following blunt trauma at school. I recommend to undertake an x-ray of the ankle with or without need of an MRI as per the clinician concern.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
