Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have in the last couple of days felt a dull pain in my calf and a spot right above my knee on the inside of my thigh. Pressure increases pain but the pain is not severe. Today I noticed that the spots are warm to the touch. Do I need to see a doctor or is this normal?
** Thanks for contacting with your health concern, and after going through history, I've two opinions regarding your symptoms;
1. going by your symptoms, you need urgent medical evaluation since it could be a blood clot [DVT- deep vein thrombosis] which has to be immediately excluded as there is [ pain, warm] so seek immediate medical intervention [vascular surgeon opinion] or visit an ER.
PS. Ask for doppler study [since the clot could break free and travel up to the lungs to cause fatal embolism]
2. Consult an Orthopedic surgeon regarding since it could be DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder] or simply because of cramps in calf [due to diabetes, calcium/salt deficiency]
PS. The symptoms have to be carefully assessed by your doctor to ensure that whether it requires immediate medical attention or long-term therapy.
