What Does Pain In The Chest And Left Armpit Indicate?
Hi, I am a 60 year old female. The last three days i am experiencing pain in my chest and left armpit, upper arm area. Not sharp pain, dull and slight burning sensation. also i feel the need to take deep breathes and let them out like i don t take in enought air. Am i having a heart attack. Should I see a doctor?
Yes, you need to see a doctor. Any chest pain must be immediately evaluated for heart trouble. Symptoms in women can be misleading. What are your height and weight? Do you smoke or consume alcohol? Do you have any other medical issues or take any medications? I recommend: -An immediate consult with a physician -An electrocardiogram and an echocardiogram. -Blood tests (complete blood count, liver and kidney function tests, lipid profile, blood glucose levels, cardiac enzymes, thyroid profile) -Urine analysis -Chest x-ray and x-ray of the cervical spine.
Based on these and a clinical exam, we can know what's going on. I would also like to rule out cervical spondylosis which can cause nerve compression and lead to similar symptoms. I urge you to seek medical attention right away.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
