What Does Pain In The Chest And Shoulder Blade Indicate?
My boyfriend is experiences pain in his chest near the shoulder and in his back behind the shoulder blade. It hurts to cough, laugh, or lift things with that arm (left). Is this a strained muscle that will heal in time with rest or could it be something more serious?
These are typical symptoms of ischemic heart disease and it requires evaluation. This may indicate specific heart ischemic issues such as angina pectoris or heart arrhythmia and this should be definitely evaluated by cardiologist and you need to do at least ECG, heart ultrasound and ergometry. Also, you should check your blood pressure and regulated body mass, avoid smoking. Other risk factors should be established and prevented but at this point serious issues must be ruled out and the need for invasive angiography discussed with doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
