What Does Pain In The Feet Indicate?

I am having foot pain in just one foot, in the hindfoot region, very painful to walk or bear weight on that foot. It is a rather sharp pain in the bottom middle of the hindfoot. Does not hurt when sitting but after sitting only 5-10 minutes, I almost cannot walk at first it is so painful. After pushing through the pain, the pain lessens a bit and I can walk but cannot really put any weight on it. This just started a few days ago and only seems to be getting worse. Does not hurt at night when sleeping, only when trying to put weight on it.

Hello! Welcome to the HCM!

You may be suffering from a condition called plantar fasciitis and resultant calcaneal spur formation. The latter is basically a bony growth from the bottom of one of carpal bones of your hind foot. The causes are multifactorial such as walking habits/flatfoot/type of shoes used/obesity etc.
To confirm you may get an X-ray done of your affected foot in A.P and lateral positions.
As an intial therapy use can use analgesics for relieving pain. (zerodol-SP/Flexon MR 1 tablet twice daily after meals for not more than 5 days at a stretch; use an antacid such as Pantoprazole 40mg once daily before meals along with it).
Along with it you can apply ice packs(freeze water in a small paper or polystyrene cup and apply to the painful site in a circular motion for 10 mins) twice a day to the affected region. You need to cut down on your walking activity by 50% for at least a week and increase your rest period.
Also consider replacing your old shoes. You should use doctored soles in your shoes.
With careful following of the above regimen, the condition should gradually subside. However, in case it persists consider consulting an orthopedician for further interventions.

Take care
