What Does Pain In The Groin Area Indicate?

I am having pain my my groin area on my right leg. When I spread my right leg as if to do a lung, I have pain. The pain does not radiate down my leg. But one wrong pivot or turn causes it to hurt. So if I am very still I have no pain. I can walk with pain as well. But if I rotate my leg or hip to the right it hurts. Please advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. The pain in groin with typical turning movement indicates nerve pressure on sciatic nerve while it passes through sciatic notch. Thus causing nerve compression pain. Like sciatica. The treatment consists of rest/pain medicines/steroids/physiotherapy.

Please consult an orthopedic surgeon. Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
