What Does Pain In The Heels Indicate?

I have been having an issue with my heel for a few years now. I just stop going for walks and rest it for a while. It has been very painful lately. This morning I went for a 30 minute walk. I have been in pain all day. Hurts and hurts to walk/ I am icing it now. Is it time to see a doctor?
