Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The heel of my Left foot has been hurting me for a while. I think I have a heel spur on that left foot heel. I m 5 feet 1 inch and weigh about 135 lbs. I work as a Museum Security guard so I do lots of standing on hard floors. My email address is YYYY@YYYY Thank you. DeBorah Ann Palmer
Answer: I think you are having a condition called "plantar fasciitis" which also gives rise to heel spur. There are no fancy tests to diagnose this condition, however, an x-ray of the heel would help to detect the spur if present. Simple measures like wearing proper footwear and a heel pad, and ingestion of pain killers (as needed) can prove helpful. If not, a steroid injection at the pain site can be given to relieve inflammation. Therefore, I would recommend that you see your GP or a podiatrist who can examine your foot and advise you on the next best step of management.
Hope this helps
