What Does Pain In The Hips Indicate?

I have burning pain in left hip area. Recently suffered from sciatica. This is better but have burning, sharp pain when walking approximately 100 feet or more. When sitting if I cough I get the same sharp pain in my hip. In the past I was told my hip would need to be replaced at some time. I just wonder if this is a sign of that. Or just my ongoing nerve issues from my back.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms that you have described that are burning pain on walking are symptoms of sciatica. It is advisable that you get an MRI of the spine done to get a clear picture of your condition.

You have not mentioned whether you are taking any medication for the sciatica pain. I would advise you to consult a neurosurgeon to assess your condition. Meanwhile, you can start taking Pregabalin M which will help to relieve your pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
