Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m wondering why my inner (or middle?) ear is hurting. It started when I was in a plane this afternoon. During the descent I burped and suddenly I felt discomfort in my ear. The discomfort persisted after flight and was worse whenever I burped. I tried hot wash cloth and that helped temporarily. Then the discomfort worsened over the next few hours. Tried warm olive oil in ear because I thought maybe water was stuck (had been swimming in the ocean before the flight and got water in my ear that never seemed to come out). Is the pain due to trapped water? Or something that ripped/burst in my ear during the flight descent? What to do? Thank you, Annie
If I were you, I would go to the doctor because of the need to see the ear from inside. That pain might be from the water trapped inside your ear, or maybe something new happened in the plane while landing due to changes in the pressure. The answer depends on what the doctor sees in your ear.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Anila Skenderi
