Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain on the inside of my knee and the back of the calf at the knee. A bruise appeared three weeks ago and the ortho said it was probably just broken blood vessels. I do have OA in the knees. The pain and bruise went away with ice, elevation and wrapping with an ace bandage helped weakness and pain. Yesterday it returned with a less pronounced bruise, pain and the back of the calf near the knee feels bumpy . I had a DVT in 2003 due to birth control pills. No problem since. I don t know what doctor to see because my GP and Ortho haven t been any help.

You need to consult an internist for complete clinical assessment as well as other routine and essential tests:
1- Physical examination.
2- Complete blood count and other blood tests such as bleeding time, PT, and PTT.
3- Doppler study of the leg.
4- Other routine tests according to the initial findings.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
