What Does Pain In The Knees Indicate?

My sister who is 60 is having pain in the knee & below the knee on the backside of her leg. Two yrs ago she had surgery to repair a torn meniscus on the other leg k then had a blood clot in the same place as his leg that s hurting. Could this be a blood clot?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. As she underwent a surgical procedure and some acute/chronic symptoms have arisen thus it could be a flare-up of the pathology

PS. Consult your doctor/Orthopedic Surgeon for thorough medical history, physical examination and laboratory test.

2. As the symptoms are hurting, you need urgent medical evaluation since it could be a blood clot [DVT- deep vein thrombosis] which has to be immediately excluded [as there is a history of similar in the past] so seek immediate medical intervention [vascular surgeon opinion] or visit an ER.

PS. Ask for doppler study [since the clot could break free and travel up to the lungs to cause fatal embolism]
