What Does Pain In The Left Eye Indicate?

I have pain when i move my left eye to look to the right, towards my nose. Pain is only when I do this. It is especially severe if I cross my eyes. Left eye only. The pain is located in the eye socket, about in the upper corner next to the bridge of my nose. This has been going on for two weeks. I have no vision loss.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be an early episode of papillitis or nerve swelling which occurs usually after a case of viral infection . did you have any fever or cough in last two to three weeks ? also how is the colour vision. You should get your Retina checked for the nerve swelling . usually nerve swelling is associated with vision loss but in early stages it might be not so obvious.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
