What Does Pain In The Left Knee Indicate?

Left knee suddenly very sore; difficult to bend, and when I do bend, pain behind knee. Had to sleep in a chair last night. Have been using a cane today. Knee seems to have heat in it. I have had meniscus scope surgery in each knee, many years ago. I try to walk 3.2 miles several times a week; walked yesterday but pain started last night and it is difficult to stand up. (I am 76 and in good health.)
