Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having unexplained pain mostly in my legs and right buttocks x 2 months, steadily getting worse. It is very difficult to sleep. I also have sore areas on my upper arms that I noticed while applying moisturizer. There is nothing to see or feel with my hands, there are no lumps or any discolorations. I am also more fatigued than usual. any ideas?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Depending on the severity and distribution of pain it could be an associated spinal problem called Spondylosis. This could be more probable if you are older. Another possible scenario is for you to check your blood sugars in case you are a long standing case of diabetes.
Especially if you are overweight, elderly or have a family history. But since you have reported a history of fatigue ot mostly could be due to a nutritional deficiency. So I suggest checking Vitamin B12, folic acid levels as well as Iron levels, ferritin and Total Iron Binding Capacity or TIBC.
Ask your local doctor to order these tests. A peripheral smear of your blood also recommended. Depending on these results we can start treatment with supplements to correct your problem.
Stay Healthy!
Yours truly,
Dr. Ankit Gopinath
