What Does Pain In The Legs Indicate?

Can falling from a height of roughly 2 feet cause a compression fracture in the lumbar region of the spine? My husband has bilateral pain, radiating down both legs. He is unable to walk unassisted. He has prostate cancer. He is overseas, and there are no formal medical services immediately available to him. The medic on site believes he has a pinched sciatic nerve. I m not satisfied with his assessment, and my husband is being put on planes for 16 hours of flights to return stateside.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, I also feel there is sciatica rather than fracture. Because fracture pains are constant and does not radiate. Whereas sciatica will have radiating pain and could be unilateral or bilateral? If you have vitamin B12 tablets, kindly take it which is helpful in healing the nerves.

If there is any active compression from the fracture and sciatica both associated then he will deteriorate and might go for palsy also. So kindly watch it and if he gets worse kindly take him to Emergency (ER) soon.

Hope this information helps you sort out your problems. If you feel it is helpful kindly give me user thanks vote.
Happy Health!

Dr. Archana
