Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side Indicate?
My daughter, 17, is complaining of a moderate lower left abdominal pain. She also happens to have achey virus/type symptoms. I think it could be the pain of ovulation exacerbated by the sugar she ate last night. I m not sure. I want to rule out appendicitis (on the right, correct?) or any other life-threatening condition. We don t rush off to the doctor or emergency room for everything. I would appreciate your professional opinion though.
Pain on the left side is very rarely due to appendicitis,if your daughter is having continuous pain for more than 3 days its better to have an ultrasound of the abdomen taken to rule out any ovarian condition like any cysts in the ovary or any stones in the urinary tract.Drink lots of water
