What Does Pain In The Lower Back Indicate?

My 34 yr old son is having hip and lower back pain. Pain was slowly building during the past week with his hips feeling tighter and tighter. Yesterday and today his hips can hardly move and his lower back is very tight. Is taking Ibuprofen, no other meds. He should probably be seen, right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per age he needs complete evaluation. Please contact local doctor or an orthopedic surgeon more appropriately.

He should be assessed by lab tests as HB, TLC, DLC, ESR, serum uric acid, RA factor, x-ray lumbar spine (x-ray hip joints to rule sacroiliitis) and HLA typing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
