What Does Pain In The Lower Left Arm Indicate?

my lower left arm and hand lose feeling in the middle of the night enough to hurt & ache and wake me up. I am not sleeping on it so it is not falling asleep as they say. I have to drop my arm off the side of the bed and wait for feeling to come back. this does not happen every night.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you have described that is loss of sensation in lower arm along with pain may be due to a nerve compression at the level of your cervical spine. Since you get relieved on suspending the arm downwards further confirms the cause. I would advise you to get yourself assessed by an orthopaedic surgeon. He may do an MRI to diagnose your condition. Meanwhile you can take an over the counter painkiller like advil to relieve the pain. Also Tab Neurobion forte will help to relieve the numbness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
