Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pain In The Pelvis On The Left Side Indicate?
2nd day of moderate pain in left lower pelvis that radiates throughout pelvis and abdomen. No relief with Motrin. More painful upon movement. Pain on palpating on left side.Fatigue and abdomen bloated, looks like 4 months pregnant. 48 years old. No periods in 5 years due to uterine ablation.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about a 48 year old female and understood your concerns. Although the uterus has been ablated and thus no periods the ovaries still work and can cause cyst or cancer formation and cause TO mass and can having torsion or twisting around its axis to cause pain. Other causes of pain in left lower abdomen with bloating can be colitis, sigmoid volvulus and intestinal obstruction. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Go to ER or nearby hospital urgently. Get a clinical evaluation, examination by a Doctor or a Surgeon to know the possible cause and get investigated to get a confirmatory diagnosis so that a proper management can be done. X-ray of the abdomen in a standing position. Ultrasonography and CT scan as required. Tests of blood, stool and urine. Gynecologist's opinion if the pain and bloating is related to the ovary or so. You may need surgery if there is a surgical cause.
