Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 62-year old female. For about 3-4 weeks i v add pain in my right calf. It has moved up my leg and now my knee is so swollen and sore I can t walk without pain. I had a sonogram of my vein; no blood clots were observed. What else could it be? How should I treat it?
The pain in the right calf can be due to prolonged immobilization of the limb. When blood circulation in the venous drainage is hampered, then blood get collected in the leg. It can produce lactate which causes a lot of pain and swelling due to disuse.
The best treatment for this condition is leg compression stockings, which can be worn to improve the circulation of the limb. Pneumatic compression devices are also available in the market, which can help to treat this condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
