Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am fighting with back nerve pain down my right leg zinging pain since May I really do not want surgery have tried physical therapy and one injection, last week my MD prescribed gabapentin 300 mg two daily and it is proving relief. My question is can I take more daily if needed for pain? Thank you!
Hello! There are many people with back nerve pain and the fact that Gabapentin helps, it means that it is a nerve pain. Your medication with Gabapetin is correctly ordered. It means it starts at a lower dose and if needed it can be higher. If you increase the dose start it with 300mg 3/daily. You can increase it up to 600mg 3/d but increasing and decreasing should be slowly. I would also suggest an imaging like MRI if it persist.
