What Does Pain In The Right Thumb Indicate?
When I wake up in the morning, I cannot stratighten my right thumb, and I have a lot of pain if/when I try at the middle knucle. Also there seems to be a lump underneath the skin at the base of thumb and a little toward the palm, which is VERY painful when pressed - any ideas what the cause may be?

If joint affected with swelling, redness and pain than gout can be possibility.
For that check serum uric acid level as well.
Investigate with CBC, local part x ray, RA factor etc.
Examination of other joints needed as well.
From cause identified specific treatment given.
