What Does Pain In The Upper Abdomen Indicate?

I am having pain in right upper abdomen. It started coming and going several weeks ago but now is constant for a few days. Feels like the most horrid indigestion ever. I had my gall bladder out 10 years ago. I have taken med for gas/indigestion. I also take protonix daily. Is so bad it makes my teeth hurt. I was hospitalized a month ago for multiple blood clots in both lungs and am on eliquis for those.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I am glad we connected.

Right sided abdominal pain is most commonly seen with gastric infections. Other causes can include -
Gall bladder stones
Gall bladder infection
Acidity
Ovarian cysts

Most people find these things useful for gastric infection.
Taking a bland diet
Getting lots of sleep
Taking an OTC antacid
Taking a BRAT diet - Bananas, Applesauce, Rice, and Toast
Taking probiotics.

In case the symptoms persist, seeing a gynecologist would be a good idea as well.

I hope this helps. All the best!
