Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I’ve been experiencing pain in my upper abdominal area - in the middle - for almost 24 hours. No fever, vomiting, etc. gallbladder & appendix removed 40+ years ago. Temporary relief achieved with burping. Have taken 40 mg of omprezole since pain began. Also have chewed some Tums which helps me to burp. Should I be concerned? A physician told me in late October I have GERD but no tests were done to confirm. I had an episode like this one & based on my descriptions, she diagnosed GERD. With omprezole that episode ended in a few days.
Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid caffeinated drinks. Use tab.nexium 40mg before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved please consult Gastroentrologist he will examine and do Upper GI scopy and treat you accordingly.
Take care.
