What Does Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Right Side Indicate?

Had colonoscopy yesterday. I was trying to sleep about 20-30 minutes ago when I got sudden severe sharp in my upper right abdomen and in upper right shoulder. Have not had a bowel movement since colonoscopy. Colonoscopy was for Crohn s disease and this was my third in four years. I have had tons of kidney stones and this is not that at all. Could this be an ER trip, so just suffer through it? It hurts to move and breathing also hurts. Thank you!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
