Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Will contact DR as I see payment is required here. Thank you. Please ignore question. **** Husband fell and hit cement water director located under water spout 1/10/2018; he has refused to go to DR for Xray. He hit right side ribs, scraped knee (knee replacement). His pain has left the upper rt thigh, rt knee, and rt hip but still has pain in rt rib area. He took Aleve for a week and backed off as he doesn t like to take too many medications. He had 2 episodes of trying to sneeze tonight (1st time this has happened) but he said his body is holding back the sneeze (involuntary) and going into muscle spasms on side of right ribs. He can t catch his breath until the spasm stops. I can t get him to go to DR. He s 65 (1/13/2018). He is on disability. He had brain surgery (Endoscopic third ventriculostomy 9/19/2014) for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. His judgement and balance are challenged requiring him to bear down when walking (keeps eyes on feet to walk.) He no longer drives and has issues with loud noises (gets disoriented). Fall was a result of his feet going out from under him when he was doing wall stretches to stretch out his ham-string and calfs after PT walk in our driveway against the wall. He doesn t know why feet went out from under him and couldn t stop fall; he couldn t get hands down to lessen the fall.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per the narration, the chest agony is due to possible rib fracture or ligament injury involving the chest.
* I recommend to take his x-ray chest with his doc and get precise cure, though primary relief with ice application and local analgesic gel or spray can be easily obtained.
Thanks.
Wish him fine recovery.
