What Does Pain In The Upper Thigh Indicate?

I have a history of DVT‘s and PE I take eliquis 5 mg 2 x a day. I am unable to put pressure on my right leg. The pain is in my upper right thigh I to my back. The pain is so severe that I feel like I am going to vomit. Could this be a symptom of blood clots.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you had history of DVT then I would recommend you to get your doppler ultrasound scan of both legs as this pain might be related to blood clot, but you should also know other signs of DVT which include redness, swelling over the area of pain. If you are on eliquis then there are lesser chances of having DVT again but since there are chances i recommend you to get the scan done,in the meanwhile take some NSAIDs and see if the pain settles, if pain settles with NSAID then this pain would be most probably due to muscular spasm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
