What Does Pain On The Lower Ribcage Indicate?

I have a zinger type of pain on left lower rib cage... sometimes intense pain most often a dull ache. it is sometimes difficult to sit and drive a car, it is like when pregnant and pressure pushed against the diaphragm. I do have a lot of bowel gas. Could I have a hurnia that poked through the ribs? just found out my Gall bladder function of 26%.

Hello,

A hernia can be possible but it needs to be examined. You say pain is to the left side and gallbladder will be under liver which is more towards right or central not to the left.

To the left, your spleen is directly present under the lower ribs. If there is any splenomegaly due to some reason, you can be having these kinds of symptoms.

First, get an ultrasound abdomen to see what the pathology is. Even hernia and gallbladder etiology could be found out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
