What Does Pain Under The Ribcage On The Left Side Indicate?

I have had a dull pain in my stomach on my left side underneath my ribcage for the past 8-10 days . I noticed feeling bloated around the same time . Not sure if it’s related . No nausea , vomiting or diarrhea. It isn’t effecting my daily life . I workout / lift 4-5 days a week . I thought i pulled a muscle but the pain isn’t fading or going away. Im curious as to if i should see a doctor as i would be a self pay patient.

Hello,

Brief Answer: Irritable bowel is more likely what you are experiencing.

Explanation: My opinion is that pain in the left side of the abdomen has many causes. Conditions such as gastritis and colitis are the most common causes. Concerning you experienced bloating with no nausea or vomiting. Colitis is more likely.
I suggest my patients the following: Clinical examination and some laboratory workup may be needed.
The information provided by you is not sufficient to provide a good opinion. If someone comes to me with this condition I would ask them about another medical history that may be relevant to your condition.

Conclusion: I suggest you check with your physician, eat low-fat diet and avoid spicy food. Vegetables are much preferred.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahmmad Gamal
