Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pain Under The Ribcage On The Right Side Indicate?
I have had pain on right side which radiates under my ribs in chest area and then to center of my back. Abdomen feels bloated and a little burning. Went to doctor on Monday and he ordered a CTscan to check for blood clots on the lungs, had scan on Tuesday and no evidence of clots, but pain is really hurting in center back at bra line and under the ribs across my chest. Doctor ordered prednisone today, and it was picked up an hour ago. I have psoriatic arthritis and have had abdominal problems for years from time to time.
There are numbers of causes for it like costochondritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, aortic dissection, aneurysm, pancreatitis, and cholecystitis as you describing you had a scan done. Some problems can be ruled out and as you have gastrointestinal problems. We have to rule out cholecystitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and pancreatitis .
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
