Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pain Under The Ribcage On The Right Side Indicate?
I m having dull pain and discomfort under my right rib cage and extending to my back. It s been happening for two days now. The pain and discomfort is worse with movement and Coughing. Pain scale is about a 3 and there has been no other symptoms as of now.
I suggest you get a sonography done. Normally the pain on the right side radiating to the back and increase on coughing or respiration suggest an acute inflammation of the gall bladder or gall stones.
So I suggest you get an ultrasound done and take painkillers for the same. I want to know, is there any vomiting or reflux of food associated? Take syrup gelusil also. Follow up with the sonography report and get an LFT done too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Jinela Desouza
