my daughter was taking doxycycline for MRSA , after 4 days on it she began experiencing sharp awful pain when swallowing food and water...she has been off the medicine for 5 days now and no improvement and the doctor switched her meds to Bactrim and put her on 20 mg of omeprazole. should I bring her for a scope or give it more time to heal? if so , how much time?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Most probably difficulty in swallowing would be due to throat infection or pharyngitis. Scopy is not required at this stage. Do warm saline gargles and avoid cold food stuffs. If symptoms persist consult an ENT surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
