Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears that your son had pharyngitis, it is a bacterial infection, may be strep.
I advise you to consult an E.N.T. surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. He may need to have culture and sensitivity of the throat swab for confirmation.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms erythrocin, phenylephrine hydrochloride, paracetamol, and citrizine.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery.
