What Does Pap Smear Showing Superficial And Intermediate Squamous Epithelial Cells Mean?
what does pap smear test say i had already been taken antibiotic for an infection and after 1 month pap smear test shows superficial and intermediate squamous epithelial cells along with endocervical cell.Lactobacilli ,Bare nuclei and few acute inflammatory cells are seen in background.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Presence of superficial and intermediate squamous cells is a normal finding. Presence of endocervical cells, lactobacilli and few acute inflammatory cells is also a normal finding. All the above mentioned findings are normally present on Pap test. Pap test is done to look for atypical changes in squamous cells. Thus, atypical cells are not seen on the Pap test.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
