What Does Persistent Nausea After Hernia Repair Surgery Indicate?
My 22 year old son had hernis repair today. Dr. prescribed Percocet for pain. He has had a couple of bouts of nausea through the day. I understand that it can be a side effect of both anesthesia and Percocet. The question is do I keep giving the Percocet overnight?

It is a possible side effect of the medication. Further management would depend on the level of pain. If he is having significant pain, you can continue the Perocet and add Dramamine or Pepto Bismol to treat the nausea. If the pain is mild, then he can consider using over the counter pain medication such as Ibupropen, Naproxen or Voltaren. These can be combined with paracetamol since they are from a different drug family.
