Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughters urine is light pink she did have one or two clear ones but still a little pink...she did eat a lot of beets yesterday but has been eating them since she was 6 months old and have never noticed it before...she also recentlyhas gotten eczema I don t know if its related
If your daughter has taken beets yesterday its okay to have a pink urine. But still you should get her done a urine routine examination to rule out any blood in the urine. Common causes of pink to reddish urine are:
- Urinary tract infection
- Kidney infection
- Urinary calculi or bladder stone.
- Certain drugs like Rifampicin, Penicillin
- Beetroot, blackberries
- Certain inherited diseases like sickle cell anemia etc.
Red urine can come if the person is taking certain blood thinners like Heparin, Ecospirin or Clopidogrel. No such relation with eczema and red urine has been established so far. Certain type of beets give more color to urine. It does not matter whether she is taking it from her 6 months. From your history, it looks like the color is due to the beet.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev, Anesthesiologist
