What Does Popping Sound And Pain On Knee Of A Child Indicate?

My 10 year old daughter was sitting on the couch just move her right knee and felt her knee popped. She stated its very sore. I thought I would give her some Motrin. I figured too much activities today between playing at a picnic and swimming in very cold lake was too much.

Hi,

Popping sound over the knee may indicate a meniscus tear, a problem with the cartilaginous structure in the knee joint. I would advise you to get the condition confirmed by getting an MRI done as an X-ray do not show meniscus.
