Hello Drs. My nephew 25 who is in Africa trying to migrate to us, history of BCG vaccine? He did a serology test and results came back with a positive IGM. No symptoms of TB. Chest xray normal. What does this mean? I know in US they use IGRA and T-spots as blood test. Is serology thesame as these tests? Thank you Justine
Positive for IgM in serology test means that the person has been recently infected with TB disease or any disease, this show recent infection in person. In US they use IGRA and T spot as blood tests. these tests are also used to indicate latent TB in HIV patients too in USA and more developed countries. these are much same in screening TB.
